M&K Porta potties was started by Kerry Schwinger in November 2010 as he saw an opportunity to keep his employees busy in their slow months. Over the next six years, Kerry saw more growth than he had expected. In 2016, on a service call to Kody’s house, the service tech informed Kody that Kerry was selling the Porta Potty business. Over the next few months, Kody and Kerry negotiated an arrangement that worked for them both. After the Lord put a situation in Kerry’s life, they came together and agreed that they would trust the Lords leadership on a six-month work trial. During this time, Kody signed on as an employee, training and doing everything that was required by Kerry to effectively run the business. In January 2017, Kody and Allison had the privilege to purchase M&K Porta Potties with just six months’ work experience and the Lord’s leading to guide them.
The first few months were full of exciting and nerve-racking times. The Harrises relied on the Lord for much direction and guidance. The first year provided lots of learning concerning HOW to run the business and how to rely on the Lord. They learned to ask the customers what they wanted and needed out of a portable toilet company. They made sure to listen and implement those suggestions. At the beginning, Kody handled all the duties of the company except for one part time route driver (now the company has grown to 8 employees!) As they finished the first year, they realized there was a great need to provide clean porta potties for the community.
As years have gone by, the company has seen a large growth in its business. This includes new restrooms, new trucks, luxury trailers and the development of a new way to clean the porta potties. Using this innovative cleaning procedure, they can wash and sanitize each toilet right on the spot. Each truck is complete with pressure washers and deep cleaning disinfectant. What makes M&K Porta Potties business different, even more than the sanitizing of the toilets, is its team of POO-fessionals. As any company knows, it takes the right person to fill each role in the company. They train their employees to have the same goals and meet the same high standards. From the first phone call to when the potty is picked up, everyone has the same goal. This goal is to be the premier portable toilet provider in this market by focusing on customer service, cleanliness and dependability.
M&K Porta Potties keeps the customer and users’ experience in mind by making sure they provide the best service possible. They provide this by having a well-trained staff. This includes the supervisors, service technicians, and office staff so that choosing bathrooms can be the easiest part of your event or construction project. Their routing software keeps track of all units to eliminate those “forgotten” placements, cleanings, and pickups. They also added Air Vote to all their units. This gives the company feedback directly from the end user of the units and allows M&K to quickly react and resolve any issues with any of its units.
By focusing on service, cleanliness and dependability, over the years they have been working on changing peoples’ impression of having to use a “nasty porta potty” into a positive and pleasant experience. They would like to thank their customers, users, and friends. Mostly, they would like to thank the Lord for the privilege to use porta potties to show the light of the Lord. It is their desire to hear the Lord say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee a ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord.” Matthew 25:21.
