M&K Porta Potties was founded in November 2010 by Kerry Schwinger, who saw an opportunity to keep his employees busy during the slower months. Over the next six years, the business experienced more growth than Kerry had anticipated. In 2016, during a routine service call at Kody Harris’s home, a technician mentioned that Kerry was looking to sell the business. This conversation set the stage for what would become a pivotal transition.
Over the next few months, Kody and Kerry negotiated a deal that worked for both of them. Trusting in the Lord’s guidance, they agreed on a six-month work trial. During this period, Kody joined as an employee, learning every aspect of the business under Kerry’s mentorship. By January 2017, with just six months of hands-on experience and unwavering faith, Kody and his wife, Allison, had the privilege of purchasing M&K Porta Potties.
The first few months of ownership were both exciting and nerve-wracking. Kody and Allison relied heavily on the Lord for direction and guidance as they navigated the complexities of running a business. They prioritized listening to their customers, understanding their needs, and implementing suggestions to improve service.
In the beginning, Kody managed nearly all aspects of the company with the support of just one part-time route driver. Today, M&K Porta Potties has grown into a thriving business with a team of eight dedicated employees. As their first year came to a close, it became evident that the community had a strong need for clean, high-quality portable restrooms.
As the years passed, M&K Porta Potties expanded significantly, introducing new restrooms, trucks, and luxury trailers. One of their most innovative advancements has been the development of a superior cleaning method. With specially equipped trucks featuring pressure washers and deep-cleaning disinfectants, they can sanitize and refresh units on the spot, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness.
